Opposition MP Sanjay Kirpal has decided to withdraw his complaint against certain MPs who allegedly prevented him from entering the Opposition Chambers last week.

Kirpal had initially considered filing a complaint with the Office of the Speaker over the incident but has now confirmed that he will not proceed with the matter.

He also chose not to refer MPs Sachida Nand, Rinesh Sharma, and Shalen Kumar to the Privileges Committee, despite them allegedly calling him a "snake."

The controversy follows last Wednesday's parliamentary session, where Kirpal, along with Nand, Sharma, and Kumar, sided with the Government to support a motion suspending Standing Orders 6(5) and 92.

This suspension allowed the Prime Minister to proceed with the first reading of the Constitution Amendment Bill 2025.

The four MPs also backed the continued suspension of these Standing Orders until the third reading and final vote on the Bill.

Kirpal’s decision to withdraw his complaint comes amid rising political tensions over the proposed constitutional changes.
