Labasa Students Forced to Cross Dangerous Steel Beam to Reach School
FIJI NEWS

Since the school year began on January 28, twelve students from Lomaloma Settlement in Labasa have been navigating a perilous journey to school.
With their bridge collapsed, they must cross a rusted steel beam daily, holding onto a rod for support.
This dangerous crossing has caused concern among parents, especially during heavy rains.
Residents, including 65-year-old Dalip Chand, have sought help from various authorities, but no immediate assistance has been provided.
The crossing, part of a sugarcane access road, is managed by the Ministry of Sugar, which plans to release maintenance grants in May.
Meanwhile, the community is encouraged to take initiative in fixing the road and crossing.
