Lautoka Police Officer Charged for Misconduct

A Lautoka-based police officer has been charged for allegedly assisting her husband and son in receiving stolen property.

She is accused of providing false information during an investigation into dishonoured cheques used to buy electronic items in 2024 and January 2025.

The stolen items were later found at her home.

In a separate case, the officer allegedly stole a lost phone handed over to the police in December 2024.

No official record of the phone was made.

She faces charges of giving false information and abuse of office, while her husband and 16-year-old son face charges of receiving stolen property.

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions sanctioned the charges.

Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu reaffirmed that officers who break the law will be held accountable.
