Lawaqa Park, one of Sigatoka's most treasured sporting and event venues, is set to undergo a temporary closure from December 23, 2024, to January 6, 2025.

The closure comes as part of essential maintenance work to ensure the park remains a safe and enjoyable space for all users.

The upgrade plans include facility repairs, ground maintenance, and infrastructure improvements to prepare the park for a packed 2025 calendar of events.

According to park officials, the maintenance will enhance the overall experience for athletes, spectators, and the community at large.

“This work is critical to maintaining the high standards Lawaqa Park is known for,” said a representative of the park’s management. “We understand the importance of this venue to the community, and these upgrades will ensure that it continues to serve as a premier destination for sports and events.”

Although the temporary closure may pose some inconvenience during the holiday period, locals and visitors alike are encouraged to use alternative recreational spaces in the interim.

The park is scheduled to reopen on January 7, 2025, with upgrades designed to better accommodate the needs of the public.
