Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Professor Biman Prasad, says the teachings of Lord Ram—centered on truth, justice, righteousness, honesty and integrity—are timeless and continue to inspire unity and national progress.
In his message to mark the celebration of Ram Naumi, Professor Prasad said these values remain relevant today, reminding people to place national interest above all else.
He highlighted that Lord Ram’s life journey is a lesson in commitment, perseverance and service to the greater good—principles that are needed now more than ever.
He also reflected on the legacy of Fiji’s Girmitiyas, who despite the hardships of indentured servitude, drew strength and hope from Ram Naumi and the values of Lord Ram.
“Lord Ram has shown that, regardless of how challenging the journey may be, success comes only through honesty, dedication and hard work,” Prasad said.
He urged that these teachings not only be celebrated during religious festivals but also practiced in daily life.
Professor Prasad also extended his warm wishes to Hindus across Fiji, hoping the occasion of Ram Naumi brings peace, strength and prosperity to all.
Ram Naumi celebrations concluded at midday today.
