LP VII Ship Successfully Removed from Cakova Reef

According to the Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji (MSAF) Media Release, the ship that ran aground on a reef near Moala Island has now been safely removed.

The Goundar Shipping Limited vessel, LP VII, became stuck on the Cakova Reef on the evening of November 27, 2024.

The shipping company, Goundar Shipping, confirmed that the ship has been successfully freed from the reef.

After the ship was removed, divers checked the vessel's hull and found no major damage.

Some passengers who were on board the LP VII have been safely dropped off at Matuku Island.

Meanwhile, another ship, the Lady Daya carrying the passengers who were originally headed there.

MSAF is still closely monitoring the situation. They assured the public that safety is their top priority and that a full investigation will be carried out to understand what caused the ship to run aground.

No injuries were reported, and the situation is now under control.
