LTA, ACCF Partner with Fiji Rugby Union to Promote Road Safety and Reduce Fatalities
FIJI NEWS

In a significant step towards reducing road accidents and fatalities, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) and Accident Compensation Commission Fiji (ACCF) have partnered with the Fiji Rugby Union (FRU) in a groundbreaking four-year road safety initiative.
The partnership was formalized at the LTA Headquarters in Valelevu, Nasinu, on December 4, 2024, with the signing of a sponsorship agreement.
Key activities include educational outreach, digital campaigns, and safety promotions at FRU-hosted matches, focusing on themes like speed control, seatbelt use, and combating drink-driving.
LTA Board Chairman Inosi Kuridrani emphasized the importance of using rugby’s reach to create lasting behavioral change, as road fatalities stand at 57 compared to 74 last year.
ACCF Executive Chairman Maritino Nemani highlighted the devastating impact of road crashes and the opportunity to foster responsibility through this collaboration, while FRU General Manager Avnil Pratap expressed pride in using rugby to advocate for safer roads.
This partnership aligns with LTA’s broader strategy of fostering alliances with corporate bodies that share its vision of safer roads for all Fijians.
By uniting sports and safety, the initiative seeks to not only reduce accidents but also build a legacy of responsible road use across the nation.
