The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has started a series of public consultations across Fiji to gather feedback on taxi permit regulations and operations. The first session took place in Labasa yesterday.

LTA CEO, Mr Irimaia Rokosawa explained that these consultations aim to improve policies related to taxi permits and the Open Taxi Ranking System (OTRS).

He noted that the transport sector is changing, and it’s important to hear from the public and stakeholders.

These sessions are open to everyone involved in the taxi industry, including permit holders, taxi operators, passengers, and the general public.

This is a chance for them to voice their opinions and help shape the future of taxi services in Fiji.

The public consultations are scheduled for the following dates and locations:

- Western Division: October 29, 2024, at the Returned Service League (RSL) Hotel Hall, Tavewa Avenue, Lautoka.

- Eastern Division: October 30, 2024, at Nausori Village Community Hall, Nausori.

- Central Division: October 31, 2024, at the FTA Hall, Knollys Street, Suva.

Rokosawa mentioned that the discussions will cover challenges in the current system, issues related to the OTRS, and suggestions for improvements to better meet public transport needs.
