The Land Transport Authority (LTA) is urging vehicle owners in Fiji to seek written approval before making any modifications to their vehicles, emphasizing the importance of safety and legal compliance.

In a recent statement, LTA CEO, Mr Irimaia Rokosawa highlighted that while modifications can enhance a vehicle’s performance and appearance, they must adhere to established safety standards.

"All vehicle compliance across Fiji must be maintained," he stressed.

Rokosawa called on car owners and enthusiasts to familiarize themselves with the legal requirements governing vehicle modifications.

He noted that adhering to these regulations ensures that modifications are carried out legally and safely, aligning with local laws.

While acknowledging the popularity of vehicle modifications, Rokosawa emphasized the necessity of meeting regulatory standards.

He warned that failure to obtain proper approval could lead to penalties, fines, or, more critically, endanger the lives of drivers and other road users.

The LTA is committed to ensuring that all vehicles on the road are safe and compliant, and encourages vehicle owners to follow the necessary procedures for modifications to protect themselves and their communities.
