The Land Transport Authority (LTA) is urging all road users to prioritize safety following a tragic accident on Valley Road, Sigatoka, which claimed the life of a young man and left three others hospitalized.

The crash involved a 22-year-old driver and three passengers.

It occurred when the vehicle lost control and overturned near Navula. The victim was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.

LTA CEO Irimaia Rokosawa expressed condolences to the victim’s family and reminded the public that road deaths can be prevented through responsible driving.

“Speeding and reckless driving cost lives, and we must remain vigilant, especially with the festive season approaching,” he said.

The national road toll currently stands at 55, down from 74 at the same time last year. However, Rokosawa emphasized that every life lost is one too many.

The LTA continues to call on all road users to follow traffic rules to prevent further tragedies.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the consequences when safety is disregarded.
