The Land Transport Authority (LTA) is warning the public to be cautious of scammers and impersonators claiming to be LTA officers or offering taxi permits in exchange for money.

These individuals are not affiliated with LTA and are engaging in fraudulent activities by misleading the public into paying for fake taxi permits.

Currently, LTA is not processing taxi permit applications as a review of the existing legislation and taxi permit system is underway. Genuine LTA officers will never ask for cash or arrange permits via calls or text messages.

LTA has emphasized that all official services and payments are only conducted at LTA offices, and any dealings outside these channels are illegal.

If anyone encounters such individuals, especially on social media platforms like Facebook, Viber, or WhatsApp, offering taxi permits for a fee, they are advised to report the matter to the police immediately.

LTA urges the public to be vigilant and avoid engaging with impersonators to protect themselves from scams.
