Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection, Lynda Tabuya, has underscored the importance of clear and consistent government communication following a meeting with Callum Munro, Communications Advisor to the UK Prime Minister at Number 10, during her official visit to London.

Munro, who is based at the Scotland Service and has previously spent time in Fiji, offered valuable insights into how governments can improve their messaging to better serve the public.

He emphasised that there is no room for inconsistent messaging or uncoordinated ministerial statements, highlighting the strict protocol in the UK where all communications are vetted by the Government Communications Service and receive final approval from 10 Downing Street.

“He stressed that the people have a right to know what their government is doing, and regular, consistent updates are essential to maintaining that trust,” Tabuya shared.

“This was an incredibly useful visit. Communication is key,” Tabuya added.
