Maharaj Demands Transparency: “Release the Names of the 9 Accused in COI Report”

Opposition MP Alvick Maharaj is calling on the government to immediately release the names of nine individuals allegedly implicated in the Commission of Inquiry (COI) report, including reported cabinet members, saying the public deserves full transparency.
In a statement issued yesterday, Maharaj questioned the government’s delay in publishing the full contents of the report and accused it of hiding critical information.
“We’ve heard the COI report names nine people, including some cabinet members, for serious actions. The Commissioner even called one a ‘wannabe Prime Minister’ and said ‘disgraceful things’ were found,” he said.
Maharaj stressed that the report was publicly funded and that taxpayers have a right to know the full findings.
“This is a grave matter. If there are nine people accused of wrongdoing in a report that cost taxpayers money, the public has an absolute right to know who they are,” he said.
He described the delay in releasing the names as “suspicious and unacceptable,” and warned that such secrecy undermines public trust.
“We need transparency, not secrecy, to ensure accountability and trust in our leaders,” Maharaj said, urging the government to release the full report without further delay.
