Major General Kalouniwai to Continue as Rfmf Commander

Major General Ro Jone Kalouniwai will continue as Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) after accepting a second term in the role.

Major General Kalouniwai first assumed command of the RFMF on 16 September 2021 and has since led the Force with professionalism and dedication. During his tenure, he has focused on strengthening discipline, enhancing operational readiness, and ensuring the RFMF continues to fulfil its constitutional responsibilities.

In accordance with Section 131(4) of the 2013 Constitution, the Minister for Defence and Veteran Affairs, Hon. Pio Tikoduadua, was consulted on the reappointment and has endorsed Major General Kalouniwai's continuation in office.

The Government recognises the importance of continuity in the leadership of the RFMF, particularly at a time when strong, experienced leadership remains essential to safeguarding national security, maintaining stability, and upholding public confidence in Fiji's disciplined forces.

The Government extends its appreciation to Major General Kalouniwai for his continued service and commitment to the nation and wishes him every success as he begins his second term as Commander.

The Government also reaffirms its full support for the officers and personnel of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces as they continue to serve Fiji with professionalism, dedication and honour.
