Man Charged for Allegedly Scamming Over $27,000 on Facebook

A 38-year-old man has been charged by the Fiji Police Cyber Task Force for allegedly scamming more than $27,000.
Investigations revealed that between August 2021 and November 2024, the man posted multiple advertisements on Facebook, using different mobile numbers, offering building materials for sale.
After receiving payments but failing to deliver the goods, eight victims reported the incidents to the Totogo, Valelevu, and Nausori Police Stations.
The man has been charged with 12 counts of Obtaining Financial Advantage by Deception and will appear in the Suva Magistrates Court today.
