McDonald’s Fiji Loses Halal Certification
FIJI NEWS

McDonald’s Fiji is no longer halal certified by the Fiji Muslim League, the organisation reminded people today.
In a formal notice issued by the Fiji Muslim League on its Facebook page, the organisation said the decision was made after several meetings were held with McDonald’s Fiji, following an inspection of the mechanical slaughter process used in New Zealand by members of the Board of Islamic Affairs.
The Fiji Muslim League stated that the inspection found the process did not fully comply with the League’s halal requirements.
“We advise our members that the process does not fully comply with our requirements,” the notice said.
The notice was signed by Saiyad Hussain, General Secretary of the Fiji Muslim League, and dated 18 August 2025.
The Fiji Muslim League, established in 1926, is the recognised authority responsible for halal certification for its members in Fiji.
At the time of publication, McDonald’s Fiji has not publicly responded to the decision.
