The newly appointed Minister for Policing, Hon. Ioane Naivalurua, made his first official visit to the Fiji Police Force Headquarters today.

He was welcomed by Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police, Sakeo Raikaci, who congratulated him on his new role.

“This is a historic moment for us, as Hon. Naivalurua is the first-ever Minister for Policing. We are honored to have him,” said DCP Raikaci.

Hon. Naivalurua, who previously served as the Commissioner of Police, shared his emotions about returning to a place he once led.

“Walking into this office brings back many memories. It’s too early to say much, but I’m looking forward to working closely with you to rebuild trust with the people we serve,” he said.

He encouraged the Police Force leadership not to be discouraged by criticism but to focus on delivering results.

“Criticism will always come, but let’s prove them wrong through our actions and show results. My goal is to improve the operational effectiveness of the Fiji Police Force with the resources we have,” he added.

Hon. Naivalurua’s visit marks the beginning of a new chapter in strengthening the Fiji Police Force and its relationship with the community.
