Minister Kamikamica Gives E-Ticketing Ultimatum to Vodafone
FIJI NEWS

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Co-operatives, SMEs and Communications Manoa Kamikamica summoned Vodafone CEO Elenoa Biukoto and COO Rajnesh Prasad to a crisis meeting this morning—demanding urgent fixes to the troubled rollout of Fiji’s new e-ticketing system.
He convened the meeting in response to widespread public frustration over long queues, confusion at agencies, and poor communication.
Also present were the Permanent Secretary for Trade and the Director of the Digital Government Transformation Office (DGTO).
Vodafone reportedly acknowledged the concerns raised and assured the Minister that they are taking steps to resolve the issues.
They confirmed that resourcing at all agencies is being increased to better manage queues, and that they are now looking at booking larger venues—such as town halls—so that people waiting can be seated comfortably.
Vodafone has also pledged ensure that the requirements for obtaining the new e-ticketing card are clearly displayed to avoid unnecessary turnaways, and that priority lines will be created for the elderly and persons with disabilities.
Honourable Kamikamica stated that the Ministry, together with the Consumer Council of Fiji, is actively monitoring the situation and will closely track the rollout to ensure that all emerging issues are addressed promptly.
He encouraged members of the public facing difficulties to contact Vodafone on the 155 hotline and assured the people of Fiji that resolving the situation is a priority for the government.
The update has been formally communicated to the Acting Prime Minister.
