Ministry of Health Urges HIV Testing Amid Misdiagnosis Concerns
FIJI NEWS

The Ministry of Health has raised concerns over the misdiagnosis of HIV/AIDS symptoms, which are often mistaken for traditional iTaukei illnesses like Bo ni Uvi or Kalounidraki.
As a result, many people turn to herbal remedies instead of seeking medical care.
During an awareness session in Lomaji, Matuku, Lakeba Peer Educator Litia Moce emphasized the importance of early testing.
She noted that timely diagnosis improves treatment outcomes and helps prevent the spread of HIV and other STIs.
The Ministry is urging communities to prioritize regular health screenings and education to dispel misconceptions.
Awareness efforts have also been extended to Yaroi village as part of ongoing outreach initiatives.
