Ministry of iTaukei Affairs Facebook Page Defaced by Unauthorised Users
FIJI NEWS
The Ministry of iTaukei Affairs, in coordination with the Online Safety Commission and the Ministry of Communications, has confirmed that its official Facebook page has been compromised by unauthorised users.
Efforts are currently underway to regain full control of the page, with technical support from the Online Safety Commission.
The Ministry has assured the public that proactive measures are being taken to address the breach.
Cyberattacks targeting email and social media accounts are becoming increasingly common, with defacement involving unauthorised access and the posting of unauthorised content, images, or messages.
Such actions are often intended to cause embarrassment and damage reputations.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Communications, Hon. Manoa Kamikamica, stressed the seriousness of the incident. “Accessing social media accounts without the user’s authorisation is a serious issue,” he said. “The Fiji Government’s priority is ensuring that our people, businesses, and government entities can access the internet safely and securely.”
