Modi and Trump Announce Trade and Defense Deals

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has described a “mega partnership” between India and the United States following high-level talks with US President Donald Trump.
The meeting resulted in key agreements, including India’s increased import of US oil and gas, aimed at reducing the trade imbalance between the two nations.
Modi’s two-day visit comes amid Trump’s push for sweeping reciprocal tariffs on all US trading partners, including India.
Modi signaled India’s willingness to lower tariffs on American goods and agreed to repatriate undocumented Indian nationals from the US. Additionally, India has committed to purchasing US military equipment, including fighter jets, as part of a broader defense collaboration.
Trump confirmed that Washington would boost military hardware sales to India, with plans to eventually supply New Delhi with advanced F-35 fighter jets.
The leaders also addressed security concerns, particularly in relation to the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.
Trump announced the US would extradite a suspect accused of plotting the attacks to face justice in India.
Modi expressed gratitude for the decision and reaffirmed India’s commitment to accepting repatriations of its undocumented citizens in the US.
The meeting underscored strengthening ties between India and the US.
