FIJI NEWS

Efforts to improve government efficiency and enhance public services for Fijians are now underway following the signing of a strategic partnership between the Government of Fiji and the Asian Productivity Organisation (APO).
Permanent Secretary for Employment, Maritino Nemani, signed the Strategic Partnership Program on behalf of Fiji, describing the agreement as a key step towards strengthening national productivity and improving service delivery to the people.
Mr Nemani said the partnership focuses on improving public sector performance, strengthening private sector productivity and establishing a Productivity Commission to drive coordinated national development.
He said the initiative introduces a more strategic and results-driven approach to improving efficiency across government institutions, with the ultimate goal of delivering better services to the public.
The agreement also supports capacity-building programmes and training initiatives aimed at strengthening institutional performance and promoting sustainable economic growth.
APO Secretary General Dr Indra Pradana Singawinata said the partnership reflects strong alignment between Fiji’s development priorities and productivity principles essential for long-term economic sustainability.
The new programme marks a strengthened phase of cooperation between Fiji and the APO, aimed at improving efficiency, strengthening national resilience and supporting sustainable development outcomes.
