MPs Visit China for One-week

Speaker Hon. Filimone Jitoko is currently leading a Fiji Parliament delegation on a one-week official visit to China, fully supported by the Chinese Government.

The delegation includes the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry, Hon. Alitia Bainivalu, Minister for Immigration, Hon. Viliame Naupoto, Assistant Minister for Health and Medical Services, Hon. Penioni Ravunawa, Opposition Whip, Hon. Jone Usamate, Secretary-General to Parliament, Mrs. Jeanette Emberson, and Manager of Inter-Parliamentary Relations and Protocol, Mr. Senitieli Wainiu.

The delegation will visit three provinces: Shanghai, Shaanxi, and Beijing.

Ahead of their departure, the Chinese Ambassador to Fiji, Ambassador Zhou Jian, hosted the delegation at his residence for a pre-departure briefing.

He highlighted that this year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Fiji, as well as the 170th anniversary of the arrival of Chinese in Fiji.
