New Nabouwalu Passenger Terminal Nears Completion
FIJI NEWS

The long-awaited Nabouwalu Passenger Terminal is set to open soon, marking a major milestone in infrastructure development for the people of Bua and travelers passing through Nabouwalu.
Over the weekend, the Ministry of Local Government, alongside key stakeholders, carried out a final inspection of the terminal site — a move that signals the project’s near completion. The terminal represents years of advocacy finally turning into tangible progress.
Once operational, the new facility will offer a range of services designed to improve comfort, safety, and efficiency for passengers and the broader community, including:
A clean, sheltered waiting area
Food kiosks, an eatery, and public restrooms
A police post with holding cells, office space, and restroom facilities
A dedicated biosecurity office to uphold national health and safety standards
Ticketing counters, bus bays, and ample parking to streamline transportation
The project is being hailed as a reflection of the Coalition Government’s commitment to inclusive development — particularly for Fiji’s rural and maritime communities.
“While criticism is often loud, your government has remained focused on delivering real, visible progress,” Rabuka stated. “The Nabouwalu Terminal is a clear example of that commitment.”
