NextGen Alliance Party Fails Registration After Missing Membership Threshold
FIJI NEWS

The Fijian Elections Office has rejected the registration application of the proposed NextGen Alliance Party after it failed to meet the minimum verified membership requirements set by law across key divisions.
Registrar of Political Parties Ana Mataiciwa confirmed the decision, saying that although the group submitted more than enough names nationally, it did not reach the required verified numbers in the Central, Western, and Northern Divisions.
According to the Registrar, the proposed party submitted 7,716 membership names — above the national requirement of 5,000 — but only 4,458 were successfully verified after assessment.
Under Fiji’s political party registration rules, parties must not only meet the national total but also satisfy divisional minimum thresholds.
Mataiciwa said party representatives have been formally informed of the rejection and provided with details of the unmet legal requirements.
The group submitted its application on 21 November 2025 and now has 14 days from receipt of the decision to lodge an appeal if it wishes to challenge the outcome.
