Opposition to Lodge Police Complaint Over ‘King Khan’ Social Media Claims
FIJI NEWS

The Office of Opposition Leader Inia Seruiratu says it will lodge a formal complaint with the Police’s Cyber Crime Unit following what it describes as the circulation of false and misleading information on social media linked to an individual identified as Imran Khan, also known online as “King Khan.”
In a statement, the Office said claims circulating online alleging that Inia Seruiratu and Parveen Bala had been interviewed by the media and responded to the allegations are “completely false.”
The Office says neither Seruiratu nor Bala has been interviewed or made any comment on the matter.
It further claims reliable information confirms that remarks now being attributed to court proceedings were not made in court in the first place, describing the continued circulation of such content as misinformation that is creating unnecessary public confusion.
The Opposition Office has strongly condemned what it says is the misrepresentation of court proceedings and warned that those responsible for originating and spreading the false claims will be held accountable.
A report is now expected to be lodged with the Fiji Police Cyber Crime Unit as the matter escalates.
