Superintendent Junior Vaalotu of the Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services played a key role in delivering a Command, Control and Coordination workshop alongside instructors from the Australian Federal Police (AFP) School of Command at the AFP Pinkenba Training Centre in Brisbane this month.
According to AFP in the Pacific, the workshop brought together police officers from Fiji, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Vanuatu, and Australia to strengthen regional cooperation and develop a common approach to responding to planned and unplanned incidents, including emergency management.
AFP in the Pacific acknowledged the wealth of experience participants brought to the training, highlighting that such collaboration contributed to the Samoa Police Service’s successful security operations during the 2024 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).
With Samoa having led the way, the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) now prepares to take on the regional security mantle for the 54th Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting, to be held in Solomon Islands later this year.
