FIJI NEWS

Pacific Polytech has marked a major step forward in technical education with the launch of the NIELIT–Polytech Centre for Electronics and ICT in Nadi.
The new centre, established in partnership with India’s National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), was officially opened at Pacific Polytech’s Queens Road campus in Namotomoto.
The launch was officiated by Minister for Justice and Acting Attorney-General, Siromi Turaga, with the event attended by invited guests, industry representatives and stakeholders.
The centre is expected to strengthen digital skills development in Fiji by offering internationally recognised training programmes in electronics, information technology and related fields.
Through the partnership, Pacific Polytech will deliver industry-relevant courses aimed at equipping students with practical skills needed in an increasingly digital and technology-driven economy.
Pacific Polytech is a technical training institution focused on providing accessible education pathways for young people, particularly in trade and vocational sectors. The institution plays a growing role in helping Fijian youth gain qualifications in critical industries, including ICT, engineering and technical services.
The newly established centre will provide opportunities for students and trainees to access internationally benchmarked qualifications, while also supporting workforce development in emerging technology sectors.
NIELIT, which operates under India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, has an established network of 56 centres across India and specialises in training in electronics and ICT.
The partnership is expected to expand access to high-quality technical education in Fiji and support the country’s increasing demand for skilled professionals in the digital sector.
