PM: $25 Million Ba Development Reflects Growing Investor Confidence
FIJI NEWS

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka today officially declared the commencement of the $25 million Racecourse Hotels and Apartments Project in Ba, describing it as a strong vote of confidence in Fiji's economy and the Western Division's growth potential.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Prime Minister Rabuka said the development represented far more than the start of a construction project, saying it reflected growing investor confidence in Fiji's economic prospects despite ongoing global uncertainties.
He said Fiji was entering a new phase of economic transformation, with the Government focused on accelerating sustainable economic growth, increasing productivity, attracting greater investment, creating quality employment and achieving high-income status by 2050.
Prime Minister Rabuka said developments such as the Racecourse Hotels and Apartments Project were fully aligned with the National Development Plan 2025–2029 and Vision 2050, which identify private sector-led growth as the principal driver of sustainable economic development.
He said Government remained committed to creating an enabling environment for investment through policy reforms, investment facilitation measures, infrastructure improvements and streamlined approval processes that encourage businesses to invest with confidence.
The Prime Minister said the project would lay the foundation for new economic opportunities and long-term growth in Ba and across the Western Division.
"As we commence work on this $25 million development, we are laying the groundwork for new economic opportunities and long-term growth in Ba and throughout the Western Division," he said.
He noted that Ba had evolved into one of the Western Division's key commercial centres and said continued investment in hospitality, housing, commercial services and infrastructure would strengthen the town's role as a regional growth hub.
Prime Minister Rabuka thanked the project's investors for their confidence in Ba and Fiji, saying productive investments strengthen the tourism and services sectors, increase business confidence and contribute directly to national economic growth.
The project, owned by 4R Electric Group, is being developed at Namosau near Govind Park and is expected to create employment during construction and once operational while boosting tourism and investment opportunities in Ba. It will be delivered in two phases.
