Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has welcomed the start of construction on a new classroom block at St Thomas Primary School in Lautoka, helping restore a safe learning space for students following extensive termite damage to the school’s buildings.

The Prime Minister said the school’s management had earlier raised concerns with his office about how the damage was severely disrupting learning.

In response, the Office of the Prime Minister, through the Small Grants Scheme, allocated building materials worth approximately $30,221.17 to support the school’s restoration.

“We are pleased to see that construction of a new 1x4 classroom block is now underway,” said Prime Minister Rabuka. “Our Coalition Government remains committed to strengthening education and ensuring that our children learn in safe and supportive environments.”

He reaffirmed the Government’s focus on improving educational facilities across the country.

“Our children are the heart of our future — and together, we will continue to create opportunities and build a brighter, more prosperous Fiji for them,” Mr Rabuka said.
