Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has strongly condemned the stoning of a Hindu temple in Sawani, near Nausori, describing the attack as “deeply disturbing.”

In a statement released today, Rabuka said such acts must be rejected by all citizens and called on religious and community leaders to unite in support of the Fiji Police Force and the Government.

“Fiji is a proud multi-ethnic and multi-religious nation. To preserve harmony, we must commit to living together in peace, with mutual respect for the cultures we practice and the faiths we hold dear,” the Prime Minister said.

He stressed that tolerance and understanding are vital in strengthening the bonds of communities and warned against people taking the law into their own hands.

Rabuka confirmed that police are investigating the incident and urged leaders at all levels to work with Government to foster greater unity, partnership, and solidarity across Fiji.
