Prime Minister Hon. Sitiveni Rabuka has called on all civil servants and national leaders to renew their commitment to selfless service and dedication to the people and the state of Fiji.

Delivering his Easter message during a Combined Easter Church Service at Centenary Methodist Church in Suva on Monday (15 April 2025), the Prime Minister reminded ministers, permanent secretaries, the Commissioner of Police, senior officers, and civil servants that they are servants of the people and stewards of the nation.

“We gather together to commemorate, to remember, to celebrate sacrifice — a sacrifice that was made on our behalf. That death is our death, that cross is the cross we should have been nailed on,” said Hon. Rabuka. “We are spared because God gave his only Son to take our place on that cross. Let that be our takeaway message this Easter and every Easter going forward.”

He emphasized that Easter is a reminder of the ultimate sacrifice and that public service also calls for daily sacrifice of time and energy in the interest of the nation.

“If you think about work, it demands sacrifice — of our life and our time,” he said.

Calling on all civil servants to embrace this calling with dedication, he added, “This Easter, let us all recommit ourselves to this calling to be servants of the state and all the people of Fiji. Let us stand up to it, be ready, and give our best. Stay firm, stay committed.”

“Focus on your calling to be the sacrificial lamb for all the people of Fiji and the state that you love so much.”
