Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has reiterated the government’s dedication to reviewing and amending the 2013 Constitution, despite lacking the 75% parliamentary majority required for changes.
After swearing in additional Ministers and Assistant Ministers from the Opposition, Rabuka highlighted the need for a Constitution that reflects the nation’s values, ensures democracy, and upholds media freedom.
He confirmed the government now has 38 votes in Parliament, representing 70% of the total, but remains four votes short of the threshold for amendments.
Rabuka also announced the Assistant Minister for Health will be sworn in within two weeks.
