Police acknowledge vanua support in fight against drugs
FIJI NEWS

The Fiji Police Force has acknowledged the support of traditional leaders in the North in assisting efforts to reduce the supply and harm of illicit drugs.
Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu conveyed this message to the vanua of Naweni during an Easter church service attended by chiefs from Cakaudrove, Bua and Macuata.
The service was also attended by members of the Operations Sasamaki team, comprising officers from the Fiji Police Force and the Republic of Fiji Military Forces.
Commissioner Tudravu thanked the chiefs for their continued support, noting that strong partnerships with the vanua are critical in tackling drug-related issues in communities.
He also attended the Northern Division Easter service, where he reminded officers of the importance of maintaining positive relationships with the public.
“Community trust is often hard to build, but very easy to lose,” he said.
The Commissioner stressed that officers must respect community protocols, warning that any lack of respect can damage public trust and confidence in policing.
The Fiji Police Force also extended its appreciation this Easter to communities for their continued support of policing efforts across the divisions.
