Police Checkpoints to Remain Operational Throughout the Festive Season
FIJI NEWS

The Fiji Police Force confirms that checkpoints will remain in place across the country as part of ongoing efforts to ensure safety and security on the roads during the festive season.
Assistant Commissioner for Police Operations, Mr Livai Driu, emphasized that maintaining road safety and protecting the public is the police's responsibility.
He also added that, as part of these initiatives, the checkpoints will continue to operate.
"Checkpoints are there as a warning to those with bad intentions, and they also serve as a reminder to drivers to prioritize the safety of themselves and their passengers," said ACP Driu.
ACP Driu further highlighted that, through these checkpoints, police have successfully seized drugs, identified individuals without proper documentation, prevented vehicle overloading, and apprehended individuals driving under the influence of alcohol.
"We have also managed to stop people caught driving while under the influence of excessive alcohol. We are calling on the public to be patient with us as we carry out our checks on the road."
As the festive season continues, the police remind the public that the checkpoints are in place to protect everyone and maintain public order on the roads.
