Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu has ordered an immediate investigation into allegations of police misconduct following an incident reported in Nabitu Village last night.

The matter has been referred to the Fiji Police Force Force's Internal Affairs Unit, with Commissioner Tudravu expressing serious concern over the potential damage such allegations pose to ongoing efforts to rebuild public confidence in the force.

“At a time when we are trying to regain trust and confidence, these sorts of allegations put a dent in our efforts,” Tudravu said. “Police officers have been constantly reminded that we need to do better, and we can, by getting back to the heart of policing and serve with integrity and professionalism at all times.”

The Acting Director of Internal Affairs has been instructed to thoroughly investigate the claims and submit a full report to the Commissioner’s office without delay.
