Police Commissioner’s Name Used in $200 Loan Scam
FIJI NEWSTOP STORIES

Fijians are being warned to stay alert after the name and profile photo of Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu were used in a viber scam to trick people into sending money.
Screenshots sighted by Duavata News show a fake account messaging locals, pretending to be the Commissioner. In the exchange, the scammer starts with casual small talk before requesting a loan of $200, claiming to be "busy with campaigns" and urging the victim to transfer the money.
When the victim responded that they only had cash, the scammer insisted, “Please try something.”
The Fiji Police Force has repeatedly cautioned the public about such impersonation scams, reminding Fijians that senior officials — including the Commissioner — would never personally ask for money over social media.
