Police Hunt for Source of Alleged Evidence Leak
FIJI NEWSTOP STORIES

The Fiji Police Force has confirmed that an investigation is underway into how confidential evidence held at the Lautoka Police Station was allegedly leaked to the public in relation to a matter involving the Ba Football Association.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed that reports have been lodged, and the matter is now being investigated by Police Internal Affairs.
The leaked material is understood to have originated from a private mobile device that was being held as part of police questioning before it allegedly began circulating widely on social media and messaging platforms, including Viber.
The matter is believed to be connected to a situation involving the Fiji Football Association and the Ba Football Association, the latter making allegations against a local club official.
It is believed that the matter is being taken very seriously and raises critical concerns about corruption within the Fiji Police Force, particularly amid ongoing concerns about officers being susceptible to bribery and the growing drug problem affecting the nation.
The incident has also raised serious concerns about the handling and security of evidence within police custody and may have implications for individuals’ right to privacy under Section 24 of the Constitution, and we understand it may fall within the realms of Constitutional Redress.
