Police Investigate Negligence After Baby Left Alone in Car

Lautoka Police have launched an investigation into possible negligence after a three-month-old baby was found alone in a parked car near a supermarket.
A concerned member of the public alerted authorities upon noticing the infant sleeping unattended inside the vehicle. Police officers arrived at the scene and were attempting to identify the vehicle owner when the child’s parents returned.
The parents were issued a warning and released as investigations continue.
Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu described the incident as “extremely troubling,” urging parents and guardians to prioritize their children’s safety at all times.
The Fiji Police Force commended the vigilance of the individual who reported the incident, emphasizing the importance of community awareness in protecting vulnerable children.
