Police Officer Found Dead in Lami

Authorities have launched an investigation following the discovery of the body of a 24-year-old police officer in Lami this morning.

Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu confirmed the officer had been on duty at the Lami Police Station last night prior to the discovery.

Police say the circumstances surrounding the young officer’s death remain unclear and are now the subject of an active investigation.

A post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.

Commissioner Tudravu said investigators are working to establish the sequence of events leading to the officer’s death.

He did not provide further details on where or how the body was discovered, noting that inquiries are still in their early stages.

The Police Commissioner conveyed the organisation’s condolences to the officer’s family, describing the loss as deeply felt within the Fiji Police Force.

The identity of the officer has not yet been released.
