Police Officer to Appear in Court for Alleged Assault

A police officer will appear before the Navua Magistrates Court today, charged with the alleged assault of a 32-year-old man earlier this month.

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) sanctioned the charge following an investigation conducted by the Fiji Police Force’s Internal Affairs Department.

The accused faces one count of grievous harm.

Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu has confirmed that the officer has been sent on leave pending the outcome of the court proceedings.
