Police Officers Allegedly Dump Body After Custody Death in Nadi
FIJI NEWS

Fiji Police are investigating the alleged involvement of several officers from the Namaka Police Station in the death of a man whose body was discovered dumped in an isolated area of Nasau, Nadi.
The victim, believed to be in his late 30s, was initially unidentified when police released a photo of his tattooed arm on January 20, appealing to the public for help.
He was described as of average height, slim build, with long, straight black hair and an anchor tattoo on his lower right hand.
Sources close to the investigation revealed that the man was last seen alive while being arrested by the officers now under scrutiny.
Police confirmed that the investigation has since identified these officers as key individuals connected to the case.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Mesake Waqa stated, “Our priority is to finalize the investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the victim’s death.”
Investigators are focusing on whether the man was assaulted while in custody, which may have led to his death.
It’s alleged that after realizing the man had died in their care, the officers made the decision to dump his body in Nasau to cover up the incident.
“The investigation is at its critical stages, and we will divulge more information in due course,” added Mr. Waqa.
