A two-week operation conducted along the Matintar to Nadi corridor has resulted in 22 cases for various offences.
Divisional Police Commander West, Senior Superintendent of Police Iakobo Vaisewa, reported that the offences ranged from assault, theft, and damaging property to serious assault, common nuisance, and drug-related crimes.
The operation, which started on January 7, 2025, saw officers deployed to the area for special operations.
SSP Vaisewa mentioned that officers also conducted community perception surveys, which helped map out a way forward for improved collaboration between the police and business communities to address safety concerns.
"We take all the concerns raised on board and will continue to review our operations for the safety and security of all," SSP Vaisewa stated.
The operation will continue, with the next review date scheduled for February 7, 2025.
