Police Raids Lead to Arrests in Drug Cultivation and Transportation Cases

In recent operations, police arrested two suspects in separate raids related to drug cultivation and transportation.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Operations Livai Driu reported that a joint team from the Central Division and Police Mobile Force conducted a raid in Daku, Kadavu, resulting in the arrest of a 26-year-old man for alleged unlawful cultivation of illicit drugs.
Over a thousand plants, loose plant materials, and seeds believed to be marijuana were seized from the suspect's farm.
In another raid in Nakasi, a man in his 20s was arrested after being found with several large bags containing dried branches and leaves suspected to be marijuana.
The police had been tracking the suspect's alleged involvement in transporting drugs from a maritime island in the Eastern Division.
Both cases are under investigation, with the seized substances sent for analysis.
ACP Driu emphasized the commitment to disrupting and dismantling drug networks, with operations focused on supply reduction.
He reiterated the Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu’s dedication to tackling the drug situation head-on, supported by specialized units and partnerships.
