Police Seize Suspected Marijuana in Kadavu Waters, Five Arrested
FIJI NEWSTOP STORIES

The Fiji Police Force has confirmed the seizure of large bags containing parcels of dried leaves believed to be marijuana following a late-night operation in Kadavu waters.
According to Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police (A/ACP) Operations Kasiano Vusonilawe, the interception was carried out by the Operations Sasamaki team, who acted on information about the transportation of the alleged illicit substances.
Five men were arrested and taken into custody along with the seized items. Police say investigations are continuing.
In separate cases, two men were charged with unlawful possession of methamphetamine and appeared in court yesterday.
Police said a 35-year-old man of Vuci Road, Nausori, was arrested at the Delainavesi roadblock on 19 September after officers allegedly found a zip-lock bag containing white crystals, which later tested positive for methamphetamine. He was charged and produced in the Suva Magistrates Court.
In another case, a 29-year-old man was allegedly found with white substances confirmed to be methamphetamine in Nabua on the same day. He was also produced in court yesterday.
A/ACP Vusonilawe commended members of the public for sharing information, which he said continues to strengthen the fight against drugs.
“As reiterated by the Commissioner, our focus on green and white drugs remains the same. We encourage members of the public to continue sharing information through Crimestoppers on 919 or directly to your Divisional Police Commanders, or to me on 9904 905,” he said.
Operation Sasamaki is continuing across all five policing divisions.
