The Fiji Police Force is warning members of the public to stop pointing laser lights at aircraft, saying the reckless act endangers the lives of passengers and crew.

Police say despite repeated warnings, air traffic control towers in Nadi and Nausori continue to report incidents of laser lights being directed at incoming aircraft during their descent.

Authorities say the lights can temporarily blind or distract pilots during critical stages of flight, posing a serious safety risk.

Members of the public are urged to report anyone involved in this dangerous practice by contacting their nearest police station, calling 917, or Crime Stoppers on 919.
