President Lalabalavu Backs Vanua Levu Tourism Development Project

President Ratu Wiliame Maivalili Katonivere today received a courtesy call from Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Hon. Viliame Gavoka, at State House to discuss the progress of the Vanua Levu Tourism Development Project, Na Vualiku.
The delegation included key stakeholders such as Fiji Airports Limited Board Chair Mr. Hasmukh Patel, Project Manager Mr. Marlon Lezama, Tourism Director Ms. Jacinta Lal, General Manager for Assets and Infrastructure Mr. Kelepi Dainaki, and Roko Tui Saravanua, Mr. Tevita Cokanasiga.
Funded by the World Bank, the Na Vualiku project is part of the Fiji Tourism Development Program aimed at strengthening infrastructure, enhancing public-private coordination, and promoting environmental sustainability in tourism across Vanua Levu.
The Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation is spearheading the initiative, supported by the Fiji Roads Authority, Fiji Airports Limited, and the Savusavu Town Council.
The project will focus on building resilient tourism infrastructure, developing nature-based tourism attractions, and improving key services such as waste and sewage management.
Notably, it aims to empower Fijian women by unlocking their potential in the tourism workforce.
President Lalabalavu expressed gratitude to the delegation for their visit and emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in fostering sustainable tourism and economic growth in Vanua Levu.
He offered his full support and reaffirmed his commitment to the successful rollout of the project.
