Prime Minister Honourable Sitiveni Rabuka today met with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on the margins of the 54th Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting (PIFLM54) in Honiara, Solomon Islands.

The two leaders reaffirmed the close partnership between Fiji and Australia, highlighting our shared priorities in climate resilience, regional security, economic cooperation, and people-to-people links.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Rabuka and his Australian counterpart both committed to negotiating a security treaty, with the hope of ensuring a peaceful, stable and prosperous Pacific region.

At the outset, the head of the coalition government expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Albanese for Australia’s continued support to Fiji and the wider Pacific region in areas of common interest.

Both leaders also agreed to strengthening collaboration through the Pacific Islands Forum and other regional initiatives.
