Prime Minister Rabuka Meets the New Non-Resident Ambassador of Lithuania

Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Sitiveni Rabuka, met with His Excellency Mr. Darius Degutis, the non-resident Ambassador of Lithuania to Fiji, in his office yesterday.
The meeting focused on strengthening the bilateral relations and enhancing multilateral cooperation between the two nations. Discussions also centered around opportunities for development cooperation in key strategic areas such as climate change, peacekeeping, and human rights.
Prime Minister Rabuka congratulated Ambassador Degutis on his new diplomatic role and wished him success in his endeavors. He reaffirmed the Fiji Government’s commitment to advancing relations on issues of mutual interest, which will benefit both nations.
The Prime Minister expressed confidence that cooperation between Fiji and Lithuania will continue to grow through sustained dialogue, especially through platforms such as the Fiji-European Union (EU) political dialogue and other multilateral forums.
Furthermore, the meeting underscored Lithuania’s support for regional collaboration under the Oceans of Peace Concept, which promotes the Pacific Way in building peace, security, and prosperity in the Pacific and the broader global community.
In his remarks, Ambassador Degutis thanked Prime Minister Rabuka for the warm reception and the opportunity to discuss enhanced collaboration between the two nations. He also expressed gratitude to the Government of Fiji for the hospitality extended to him upon his arrival this week to present his credentials to the President of Fiji, His Excellency Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, at the State House.
Fiji and Lithuania established diplomatic relations in 2014.
