Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Sitiveni Rabuka, is commencing official visits to Singapore and Indonesia this week as part of Fiji’s efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and explore new areas of cooperation.
During his first official visit to Singapore, Prime Minister Rabuka will meet with his counterpart, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, to discuss economic partnerships and shared development goals.
Fiji and Singapore have maintained strong diplomatic ties since 1971, with collaboration in key sectors such as climate resilience, trade, education, and digital innovation.
Following his stop in Singapore, Prime Minister Rabuka will travel to Indonesia for talks with President Prabowo Subianto.
Discussions will focus on deepening Fiji-Indonesia cooperation in areas including regional security, agriculture, education, and disaster risk management. Fiji and Indonesia established formal diplomatic relations in 1974.
The visits also include a number of side engagements aimed at promoting regional partnerships and supporting Fiji’s foreign policy priorities under the Coalition Government.
While Prime Minister Rabuka is abroad, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Hon. Viliame Gavoka, will serve as Acting Prime Minister.
